On ‘Know Fi’ (GIGANTESOUND 019), we have a very intriguing series of quite fierce electronic music spread across 12 inscrutable and foggy tracks of all-instrumental goop. What I like about it is the loud volume, the general ‘heaviness’ of some of their reverberating bass tones, and the impolite but spare use of sampling. At their best, The Mays can be mystifying and mesmerizing, working like sorcerers who conceal their work behind impenetrable symbols. By all means, do investigate this oddity!”

Come one and come all! The DJ Club is embarking on a voyage to the motherland, the goldmine, the mecca known as Amoeba Music! We will be departing at 3:30 from A.P. Giannini Middle School at 3:30 and returning at 6 pm. Remember to bring extra change for a slice of Escape from New York Pizza. Cheese and tomato nirvana.

We’re on the road again! May 3rd the DJ Club transports the wheels of steel to Francis Scott Key Elementary School for a K-5 session. More info coming soon!

April 12th is the date of the SNBC DJ Club’s visit to our neighboring elementary school. We will show the youngsters how to get down on the turntables and play insane games of freeze dance! 3:30-6:00 pm. Be there!

May 15th - May 18th are the dates of this year’s ancient ritual! Contenders from every corner of the Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center DJ Club will be competing in events like ‘Needle in a Haystack’, the ‘DJ Obstacle Course’ and ‘Fruity Loops Pad Arp Whatever Challenge’. Distinguished judges include: DJ Vast, Diversify, Chill Will, DJ Relax and Michael Funk. Stay tuned for more late breaking news!
